August 16, 1956 - Bela Lugosi - Actor - Died

August 16, 1985 - The Bride - Movie - Released

Bela Lugosi starred in many important early horror films, including Dracula and several Frankenstein-themed films. He's the honored subject of the extremely popular Bauhaus song.

The Bride is one of my favorite movies just because it's so pretty to look at, what with Sting and the period costuming. . Not scary or horrific, but a nice peek into the Bride of Frankenstein's side of the story.

This psychological horror film is one of my favorite ghost movies. I often find myself rewatching it on the occasional dark and rainy autumn evening. It's almost heartbreaking to watch the lonely mother's mental breakdown.
