Two of Anne Rice's stories made into a movie and a miniseries. Though like Anne I had my doubts about Tom Cruise as Lestat, the film has aged well and is still enjoyable to re-watch.

November 4, 1982 - Dominique Dunne - Actress - Died

November 4, 1994 - Frankenstein - Movie - Released

November 4, 1998 - Gods and Monsters - Movie - Released

Dominique Dunne, who played the older sister in Poltergeist, was murdered by her ex-boyfriend.

I was disappointed by Kenneth Branagh's Frankenstein. Noisy, boring, and drones on and on. Sort of like the director. But hey, it stars DeNiro as The Creature.

Before Brendan Fraser got chunky, he turned in a beautiful performance in Gods and Monsters with the legendary Ian McKellen.

October 29, 1993 - The Nightmare Before Christmas - Movie - Released

October 29, 1999 - The House on Haunted Hill (Remake) - Movie - Released

Where would goths be without Winona? We worshipped her in Heathers, idolized her as Lydia Deets in Beetlejuice, tolerated her as a blonde in Edward Scissorhands, marveled at her wardrobe in Dracula and dutifully went to see Lost Souls in the theater.

Has any movie delighted goths (in general) more than The Nightmare Before Christmas? It seems to have been made just for us.

My parents weren't interested in watching The Addams Family when it came out, because it "looked too weird" and "was probably Satanic." (See what I had to grow up with? Sigh).

The Haunting, based on a Shirley Jackson novel, would be remade several times.

Meanwhile, Hellraiser was probably the scariest, grossest movie I had ever seen in the theater at the time. (Yes, I'm that ancient an eldergoth, I saw this in theaters). I was suitably impressed and very intrigued by the female cenobites.
